SLIC Hub | Advancing Inclusive Communication Through Sign LanguageSLIC Hub is a Kenyan organisation advancing inclusive communication and education through sign language, with a vision of contributing to a society where every learner belongs, every voice matters, and every individual has the opportunity to thrive.Our work goes beyond teaching sign language as a skill. We use inclusive communication as a pathway to improve learning outcomes, transform mindsets towards disability, strengthen participation, and build more inclusive schools and communities.A key expression of this work is the Sign Language Spelling Bee (SLSB)—an innovative learning platform that uses sign language, vocabulary development, fingerspelling, confidence-building and healthy competition to make learning engaging while bringing Deaf and hearing learners together through a shared language.As part of our wider movement, SIGnTEMBER Awareness Month brings together learning, engagement and public participation to celebrate sign language and encourage more people to learn, use and embrace it as a language for inclusion. The month culminates in the celebration of the International Day of Sign Languages, providing an important opportunity to amplify the value of sign languages and the rights, identity and participation of Deaf communities.Through SLIC Hub and the Sign Language Is Cool movement, we continue to champion a simple but powerful belief:Cool People Sign to Include.Our ambition is to make sign language not only accessible, but learned, practiced and embraced as a lifelong skill that helps transform education and society.
